Whispers in the Dark

Did you hear them?

The gentle whispers in the dark

Telling stories of the past

Like the ancient winds

Both ghosts of time

Remembered for moments

Forgotten for eternity

Listen to the whispers

And cherish them

But do not fear forgetfulness

For in time, all is forgotten

So to clear the confusion as to why this is a love poem, I shall explain why it was written. I used to talk to Mike, my love, on the phone every night from about nine to eleven. We had this strange routine where we would sit on our bedroom floors, turn of the lights, and close the doors, so we would be surrounded by darkness. That way when we heard each other’s voice, it was like we were in the same room. I know, I know, it’s extremely corny, but that’s what we did.
